Memorial of Martyred jawans will be constructed in Bihar:Nitish

Patna, Feb 21(UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today announced that a memorial
of martyred jawans would be constructed in the state to honour them for their supreme
sacrifice while performing their duties.
Mr Kumar, while addressing a function organised here to honour family members of
jawans of Bihar Police, Military and Para military forces, said that it was responsibility
of the government and others to give proper respect and assistance to family members
of those who lost their lives while performing their duties.
Some private organisations had done a good job in organising such a wonderful
programme on fourth consecutive years, he noted.
"Bihar government will construct a memorial of martyred jawans for giving respect to
them for their supreme sacrifice," Chief Minister said adding that the location could be
in premises of Police Headquarters in Patna or elsewhere.
A lot of things were being done to give respect and provide assistance to family
members of martyred jawans and his government was prepared to do something
more, if any suggestion was placed, he added.
Mr Kumar directed the DGP Gupteshwar Pandey to take steps to enforce liquor ban
strictly and also cautioned him that giving good speech would not serve any purpose.
He was referring to the speech delivered by Mr Pandey in the function.
"Our government has constructed a very good well equipped police headquarters in
Bihar and I do not know whether such a marvellous police headquarters exist in any
state," Chief Minister said adding that the police headquarter in Patna named as Sardar
Patel Bhawan could sustain the earthquake of the intensity of 9 on richter scale.
Government has provided required resources and facilities to police and it was now
for them to deliver, he stated.
Mr Kumar said that number of tourists visiting Bihar had reached 3.5 Crores while
more than 10 lakhs foreign tourists had visited the state, which proved the fact that
liquor ban did not affect flow of tourists.
Bihar is favourable place for tourists and they did not visit the state for consuming
liquor, he pointed out.
