Melie Kerr named New Zealand white-ball captain

Wellington, Feb 16 (UNI) New Zealand have appointed all-rounder Melie Kerr as their new white-ball captain, replacing veteran Sophie Devine, who stepped down after the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup last year.
According to the International Cricket Council (ICC) website, Kerr, a key figure in the White Ferns setup, has represented New Zealand in 172 internationals, scoring 3,757 runs and taking 201 wickets across formats. Her first assignment as a full-time skipper will be the upcoming ODI and T20I series against Zimbabwe later this month.
“Growing up, it was my childhood dream to represent New Zealand, and to now have the opportunity to captain my country is a massive privilege,” Kerr said.

Lea Tahuhu retires from ODIs after 15-year career

Wellington, March 8 (UNI) Lea Tahuhu has announced her retirement from One-Day International (ODI) cricket after a 15-year career with the New Zealand women's national cricket team, as per the New Zealand Cricket website.
Since making her ODI debut as a 20-year-old against Australia in Brisbane in 2011, Tahuhu has represented New Zealand in 103 ODIs, claiming 125 wickets, the most by a bowler for the White Ferns in the format.
