Mehbooba accuses J&K Guv of encroaching democratic space, warns of agitation

Srinagar, Dec 7 (UNI) Accusing Governor Satyal Pal Malik of encroaching the democratic space by passing various orders in the last couple of months, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti on Friday said if divisional status is given to Ladakh region, similar approach should be adopted for Peer Panchal and Chenab valley as well.
“Since Governor’s rule was imposed in Jammu and Kashmir many orders have been passed which are not in the interest of the state. We were of the opinion that the Governor, who is himself a seasoned politician, will be very cautious keeping in view the sensitivity of the state,” Ms Mehbooba, who is the former chief minister of the state, told reporters during a press conference here on Friday.
But, she said unfortunately, every day an order is passed by him (Governor) which is further alienating the people.
