Meghalaya recruiting CDPOs in violation of Central government norms

Shillong, Aug 11 (UNI) The Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) on Tuesday accused the Meghalaya government recruiting Child Development Project Officers (CDPO) in violation of Central Government norms.
In a letter to Social Welfare Minister Kyrmen Shylla, HYC president Robertjune Kharjahrin urged Social Welfare Department to “keep on hold” its decision to directly recruit CDPOs as it violates a Central Government norm.
He also pointed out that the Central Government through the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of Women and Child Development vide Letter dated 20th May, 1986 has directed all States and UTs to frame rules for appointments to the Posts of CDPOs and Supervisors of Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) projects.

Vigilance along border in run-up to election in Meghalaya

Shillong, April 15 (UNI) Vigilance by the police and paramilitary forces has been mounted along the Meghalaya-Assam inter-state boundary and the international border that the state shares with neighbouring Bangladesh in the run-up to the Lok Sabha elections, scheduled for April 19.
Meanwhile, in a significant joint operation conducted on Monday, the troops of BSF Meghalaya Frontier and Meghalaya Police seized a huge quantity of dry betel nuts from the bordering area of the South Garo Hills district of the state.
