Meghalaya police nabs four persons for extorting Rs 10 lakh

Shillong, Sep 18 (UNI) Four people, including two members of the Hynñiewtrep National Youth Movement (HNYM), were arrested on Tuesday night by Meghalaya police, for allegedly extorting Rs 10 lakh and criminally intimidating the victim’s daughter, police said on Wednesday.
The arrested persons have been identified as Garnett Gedian Khongwir and Kyrshanbor Lyngdoh (who are members of HNYM), Thounaujam David Singh and Narendra Kabrambam, police said.
Police said the arrest was made based on a complaint lodged on August 24, at Madanrting Police Station to the effect that on August 8, an unknown male individual had contacted the complainant at around 07:00 PM demanding Rs 10 lakh.
