Meghalaya: No-confidence motion against CEM of GHADC on Monday

Tura, March 15 (UNI) A special session of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) will be held tomorrow after 21 Council members expressed loss of confidence in the incumbent Chief Executive Member (CEM) Albinush R. Marak.
The special session of the GHADC has been summoned by Governor CH Vijayashakar in the aftermath of the unrest in West Garo Hills district over the controversial notification issued by the Executive Committee of the Council that made Scheduled Tribe (ST) certificates mandatory for filing nominations for contesting the Council polls.
However, the Meghalaya High Court has quashed and set aside the notification, observing that it bypassed the required legislative procedure.
