Meghalaya government will look into alleged mining of uranium

Shillong, May 20 (UNI) Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Monday said that the state government would look into the alleged illegal extraction and transportation of uranium by the Atomic Minerals Directorate (AMD) and Uranium Corporation of India Limited (UCIL).
“Since there are such reports, we will definitely look into it,” Sangma said.
However, the Chief Minister made it clear that there is no uranium mining going in clandestinely as alleged by the Khasi Students’ Union (KSU).
