Meghalaya CM resigns as member of Lok Sabha

Shillong, Sep 4 (UNI) Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma today resigned as member of the Lok Sabha after he was elected as member of the Meghalaya Assembly on August 27.
Sangma had been elected as member of the Tura parliamentary constituency in the by-election after his father and former Lok Sabha Speaker Purno Agitok Sangma, who had represented the constituency for nine-times passed away on March 4, 2016.
Sangma, who was accompanied by two Congress parliamentarians from Meghalaya Vincent H.Pala and Wansuk Syiem, submitted his resignation to Lok Sabha Speaker, Sumitra Mahajan.
Sangma would take oath as member of the Meghalaya Assembly tomorrow, one day before the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) coalition government completes six months in office.
He was sworn as the 12th Chief Minister of Meghalaya on March 6, was a non-elected member of the 60-member Assembly.

Nagpur, Mar 31 (UNI) Eight doctors and four paramedics of Nagpur’s Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) were quarantined after they came in contact with a person who hid the fact that his younger brother was a COVID-19 patient and then went on to test positive himself for novel coronavirus, sources said here today.
