Shillong, Jun 5 (UNI) Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Thursday stressed on the need to “balance between health and economy” of the people with the re-restart of economic activities in the state, even as he urged the citizens not to panic.
“After maintaining a very strict testing protocol, I hope we will be able to contain this (disease and ensure it does not spread in any way to the community) to a very large extent,” he told reporters after a review meeting on COVID-19 pandemic.
“We have always kept health as a priority but slowly after seeing that we were able to contain the situation, we felt economically, we need to give some kind of flexibility as people's livelihoods are being affected. We are being very cautious in our approach but at the same time we are ensuring that the economic activities can also continue,” the Chief Minister added.
