Meghalaya celebrates Holi with caution

Shillong, Mar 29 (UNI) The two-day festivities of Dol Poornima and Holi were celebrated across Meghalaya, largely in keeping with the safety protocols issued by the government in view of the ongoing pandemic situation.
The Union health ministry had issued circulars to all State governments and Union territories, advising local restriction on festivities in view of the rise in COVID-19 cases across the country.
People mostly celebrated the ‘festival of colours’ in their own premises with no noticeable public celebration, even as the various district administrations had made public announcements, appealing the people to avoid large gatherings and roadside celebration on the occasion.
