Mega rally in Kolkata today against CAB-NRC

Kolkata, Dec 16 (UNI) A mega rally will be held in the city today in protest against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Register of Citizens (NRC).
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will be present herself in the protest march.
The rally will begin at 1 PM near the base of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar’s statue, and end at Jorasanko Thakurbari.
Ms Banerjee has appealed to people from all sections of the society to participate in the rally for people’s interest.
The Trinamool has had a consistent stand against CAB-NRC.
Ms Banerjee had earlier said, “We will never allow NRC exercise and Citizenship Act in Bengal. We will not implement the amended Act, even though it has been passed in Parliament. The BJP can’t just bulldoze the states to implement it.”

Itanagar, Mar 29 (UNI) In a repeat of previous poll outcomes, the hilly Northeastern state of Arunachal Pradesh is ‘set’ to witness seven candidates from ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), including Chief Minister Pema Khandu, getting elected 'unopposed' to the 11th Legislative Assembly of Arunachal Pradesh, 'without a contest'.
After ‘complete’ scrutiny of nominations filed for all 60 Assembly Constituencies, including the ‘adjourned’ scrutiny of papers done for Itanagar and Daporijo seats today, altogether seven validly nominated BJP candidates were found to be opponent free, and they are likely to be declared elected unopposed on Saturday after the last date of withdrawal of candidature, Joint Chief Electoral Officer Liken Koyu said.
