MDMK MP Vaiko objects to Centre naming schemes in Hindi

New Delhi, Dec 3 (UNI) MDMK MP Vaiko on Friday strongly objected to central government naming schemes and programmes in Hindi.

Speaking during Zero Hour in Rajya Sabha, Vaiko said letters and communications are sent in Hindi only from the Centre to non-Hindi speaking states terming it as high-handedness of the government.

"Recently in Varanasi, Hon'ble Home Minister declared that Hindi alone is the national official language and all file works and correspondences are taking place in Hindi only.
"In fact, letters and communications are sent in Hindi only from the Centre to non-Hindi speaking states. MPs from the South are also receiving letters and replies from Centre in Hindi. This is nothing but high-handedness of the Union government," Vaiko said.

"Similarly of late, names of all schemes and programmes are being given in Hindi and no English translation is provided. With the result people from non-Hindi speaking states, in fact MPs from these areas, are confused about the purpose of scheme," he added.

Vaiko said that Hindi should not be imposed on non-Hindi speaking people.
