Mayawati blames EVM tampering for BJP's victory in UP

Lucknow, May 23 (UNI) Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati held the malfunction and tampering in EVMs
responsible for the poor performance of 'Mahagathbandhan,' as well as the defeat of the entire Opposition, across the country.

BJP and its allies were set to win about 350 seats which is more than what they won in 2014, she said.
"Now the tampering in EVM is clear after Parliament results as nor the EC neither the Government is ready to go with the polling through ballot papers", asserted Mayawati while responding to Parliament results here on Thursday evening.
"A well calculated move has been made to ensure victory of some of my party candidates so that no would smell foul play in ensuring a landslide victory for Bharatiya Janata Party and later raise question over EVMs”, she claimed adding that no one would digest such results in Uttar Pradesh. She said that the people would not sit silent and would give befitting reply to those who managed the victory through EVMs.
In her statement, Mayawati said that the demand of the Opposition to replace EVMs and go back for voting through ballot papers was turned down earlier and now even the Election Commission did not accept their request of first counting the VVPAT and then taking EVMs.
On the alliance with Samajwadi Party and Rastriya Lok Dal (RLD), Mayawati said that both the Parties had fulfilled the alliance 'dharma’ and thanking the other two outfits, BSP supremo said that they will sit together and draw further strategy.
She also claimed that the workers of all the three parties had worked very hard and she was thankful to them though they were hurt for not getting desired results. However she said that they will continue to work with more dedication on the line set-up of Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar ensuring the welfare of the dalits, Muslims and backwards and showed confidence that they will ultimately turned victorious.
In the last Parliament elections, BSP failed to open it's account, but this time, the Mahaghatbandhan, with the Samajwadi Party, facilitated BSP's possible victory in around a dozen seats of Uttar Pradesh.
