Kanpur, Jun 5 (UNI) In line with the Central government's vision of cashless India, NDTV and Mastercard have joined hands to launch the Cashless Bano India movement in the city today. The campaign aims to work with partners in driving behavioral change and spread awareness on the importance of digital payments to millions across the country. As part of the campaign, Cashless Bano India bus will travel across Kanpur to conduct financial literacy and digital payment adoption camps for local traders and consumers in partnership with Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) and HDFC Bank. Consequently, this will help traders to adopt digital payments and realize seamless transition to GST tax regime. Speaking on the occasion, Praveen Khandelwal, Secretary General, CAIT said, “We are delighted to be a part of the “Cashless Bano India” campaign to drive awareness and adoption of digital payments among the merchants. As GST tax regime gets rolled out on July 1, this campaign will further provide impetus to the government of India’s vision of cashless & digital economy.” Speaking on the initiative, Smita Bhagat – Branch Banking Head,HDFC Bank said, “We are happy to be part of the campaign, which will help create awareness and educate people on the benefits of moving towards less cash by using digital platforms. This is in sync with the Government's vision of Digital India; to promote digital transactions and reduce the usage of cash Porush Singh, Divisional President, Mastercard said, “India is at the cusp of a digital revolution. There is a need at this time for government, public and private partnerships to create payment solutions for consumers and merchants to drive the adoption of digital payments. Mastercard has been an advocate for a world beyond cash for many years and through this initiative we want to support the government’s demonetization drive to trigger high awareness about various alternative forms of payments.” The campaign bus reached Kanpur today and will travel to vantage locations in the city including Sagar Market - Express Road, Naveen Market - Somdutt Plaza, Meston Road Chowk and Sheeshmau Road among otheres, till June 9. The campaign will also see Nukkad Natak performances that will educate consumers and merchants on the importance and convenience of digital payments. UNI MB AD1731
