Chandigarh, Apr 16 (UNI) There was tension and high drama at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Kurukshetra campus on Thursday as thousands of students gathered to protest following the death by suicide of a second-year B.Tech student hailing from Bihar.
Chanting slogans of "We Want Justice," the agitating students demonstrated against the administration, leading to a heavy security presence within the campus. In response to the growing unrest, the NIT administration reportedly closed the main gates and restricted media entry into the premises.

Originally hailing from the Buxar district of Bihar, she allegedly took her own life by hanging in her hostel room after returning from a laboratory session on Thursday afternoon. According to police sources, a note was recovered from her belongings in which she purportedly apologized to her parents, expressing distress over her academic performance and the financial burden of her education.
