Massive landslide cuts Kohima-Dimapur road

Massive landslide cuts Kohima-Dimapur road

Kohima, Nov 01 (UNI) A massive landslide completely blocked the National Highway 29 (Kohima-Dimapur road), the lifeline of Nagaland and Manipur, near Chumukedima police check gate under Dimapur district, which has affected the movement of vehicles.

According to official sources today the landslide occurred around 11:30 PM, a kilometer away from the Chumukedima police check gate. Though efforts are ongoing to clear the debris, it is still uncertain as to when the road would be restored for vehicular traffic, a police official from Chumukedima check gate informed.
Meanwhile, a traffic advisory issued by Dimapur Police informed that owing to the blockade of road at NH 29 by the landslide, light vehicles in and out bound from/for Kohima and beyond have been advised to alternatively travel by the Niuland – Zhadima route till such time the Highway is restored for normal vehicular traffic.
