Mumbai, Mar 1 (UNI) Passenger vehicle major, Maruti Suzuki has reported a marginal increase of 0.89 per cent in its domestic sales at 139,100 units in February as compared with 137,900 units sold in corresponding period in 2018.
Maruti, however, saw a marginal decline of 0.8 per cent in its total sales (domestic+exports) at 148,682 units last month as against 149,824 units sold in the in the corresponding month last year, a release said
Company's light commercial vehicle dispatch 2,188 units in the month under review witnessing a jump of 74.8 per cent.
Total exports saw a declined of 19.6 per cent at 9,582 units in February 2019 as compared to 11,924 units in the February year ago.
Sales of the Alto and WagonR dipped 26.7 percent from 33,789 units sold in February 2018 to 24,751 units sold in the past month. However, sales of cars in the compact segment which included the new WagonR, Celerio, Ignis, Swift, Baleno and DZire saw a surge of 11.4 per cent. A total of 65,213 units were sold in February 2018 which increased to 72,678 units in February 2019.
Sales of the Ciaz also went down by 37.0 percent from 4,897 units sold in February 2018 to 3,084 units sold in the past month taking total passenger sales down 3.3 percent from 1,03,899 units in February 2018 to 1,00,513 units in the past month. The utility vehicle segment, comprising the Gypsy, Ertiga, Brezza and S-Cross saw a surge in sales by 7.4 percent with a total of 21,834 units sold in February 2019 as compared to 20,324 units sold in the same month of the previous year.
Omni and Eeco sales also increased by 17.2 per cent from 12,425 units in February 2018 to 14,565 units in the past month. In the light commercial vehicle segment, sales of the Super Carry went up 74.8 per cent from 1,252 units sold in February 2018 to 2,188 units sold in February 2019.
