Market valuation of five of top-10 most valued firms spikes by Rs 1.54 lakh crore

New Delhi, Jul 19 (UNI) In a week, the market valuation of five of the top-10 most valued firms jumped Rs 1.54 trillion. IT major TCS emerged as the biggest winner, in line with a positive trend in equities. TCS added Rs 72,072.3 crore, taking its market valuation to Rs 8,20,672.70 crore.
In its latest quarterly results, TCS reported a 4.61 per cent increase in its June-quarter net profit to Rs 13,349 crore.
Last week, the BSE benchmark Sensex climbed 582.06 points, or 0.75 per cent, and the NSE Nifty went up by 127.4 points, or 0.52 per cent.
The key gainers were Reliance Industries, ICICI Bank, State Bank of India, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and Bajaj Finance. HDFC Bank, Bharti Airtel, Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), Larsen & Toubro, and Hindustan Unilever faced erosion from their valuation.
The valuation of Bajaj Finance climbed Rs 21,946.5 crore to Rs 6,57,274.28 crore and that of State Bank of India went up by Rs 7,338.34 crore to Rs 9,63,768.78 crore. ICICI Bank's valuation surged by Rs 29,062.06 crore to Rs 10,34,441.77 crore.
The valuation of Bajaj Finance climbed Rs 21,946.5 crore to Rs 6,57,274.28 crore.
HDFC Bank edged lower by Rs 7,084.61 crore to Rs 12,62,369.81 crore, while the valuation of LIC declined by Rs 12,080.75 crore to Rs 5,48,124.30 crore.
The market capitalisation (mcap) of Larsen & Toubro eroded by Rs 18,097.72 crore to Rs 5,24,840.68 crore. Bharti Airtel's mcap tumbled Rs 7,706.45 crore to Rs 11,91,067.77 crore.
The mcap of Hindustan Unilever dipped Rs 1,221.79 crore to Rs 5,03,775.86 crore.

Tata Trusts begins move to find successor to Chandrasekaran

Mumbai, Aug 13 (UNI) Tata Trusts which holds a controlling stake of 66 per cent in Tata Sons stated here in an official statement on Thursday that its nominee directors received an email from Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran on August 12 informing them of his decision to step down after completing his present term.
The statement also mentioned that the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust (SDTT) has begun the process of appointing a successor to Chandrasekaran, a day after he announced that he would not seek another term after his current tenure concludes on February 20, 2027.
