Marginal increase in CNG prices in Delhi; reduction in UP

New Delhi, Nov 18 (UNI) Indraprastha Gas Limited, a joint venture of GAIL (India) Ltd, BPCL and Government of NCT of Delhi, has announced marginal adjustment in the selling prices of Compressed Natural Gas in NCT of Delhi and Rewari.

This adjustment in prices would result in an increase of 40 paise per kg in the consumer prices of CNG in Delhi and Rewari with new consumer price of CNG to be Rs 44.70 per kg in Delhi and Rs 54.45 per kg in Rewari.

However, the consumer price of CNG in Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh is being reduced by 45 paise per kg from Saturday night. The new consumer price of CNG will be Rs 50.80 per kg in Noida, Greater Noida & Ghaziabad is effective from November 17-18 midnight.

The step was taken to offset the impact on its input costs as a result of recent revision in proportions of domestic gas allocation and increase in operating expenses.

In Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad due to revocation of additional 2 per cent VAT in Uttar Pradesh, the net impact will be decrease in prices to the consumers in the state.

IGL will continue to offer a discount of Rs 1.50 per kg in the selling prices of CNG for filling between 1200 midnight to 0600 hrs at select outlets. Thus, the consumer price of CNG would be Rs. 43.20 per kg in Delhi and Rs 49.30 per kg in Noida, Greater Noida & Ghaziabad during the duration.

This marginal adjustment in prices of CNG has been necessitated due to increase in input cost of gas as a result of recent revision in proportions of different types of gases in domestic gas allocation for supply as CNG and increase in operating expenses since last price revision.

However, the decrease in price of CNG in Uttar Pradesh is a result of passing the net impact of revocation of additional 2 per cent VAT in the state to the consumers after adjusting the increase in costs.

With the revised price, CNG would still offer over 58 per cent savings towards the running

cost when compared to petrol driven vehicles at the current level of prices. When compared to diesel driven vehicles, the economics in favour of CNG at revised price would be over 37 per cent, according to a statement issued by the IGL Saturday night.
