Marathwada region records more than 1,000 new cases of COVID-19

Aurangabad, Aug 8 (UNI) The Marathwada region reported 1,111 fresh cases of COVID-19 on Saturday, the highest so far across the eight districts of the region in the last 24 hours.
Authorities also reported 28 fatalities in the eight districts till late Friday night.
With this, the total number of fatalities has now reached 1,004 in these districts, while the COVID-19 tally in the region rose to 30,111. On a positive side more than 18,000 patients have been cured and discharged from hospitals so far.
Rest of the active cases are undergoing treatment at different hospitals and COVID care centres in the region.
The official data collected from all the district headquarters by UNI stated that Aurangabad district recorded the highest, 339 positive cases and 13 fatalities, followed by Nanded 182 cases and five deaths, Latur two deaths and 169 cases, Osmanabad 130 cases and two deaths, Jalna 84 cases, Parbhani 82 cases, Beed 114 cases and five deaths and Hingoli district 12 cases.
