Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Feb 21 (UNI) Festival of 'Maha Shivratri' was being celebrated with traditional enthusiasm and religious fervour across the eight districts of Marathwada region on Friday.
In Aurangabad, since morning devotees turned up in large numbers at the famous Shiva Temple situated in Khadkeswar area in city.
Devotees of Lord Shiva particularly women, were also seen in different parts in and around the city observing fasts and worshiping 'Shivlinga' with Belpatri (bel leaves) and flowers.
According to the sources, In Ellora, thousands devotees thronged towards 'Grushneswar temple' to pay obeisance since wee hours.
The historic Ellora heritage is known one of the world famous 'Kailash Cave' near by the jotirlinga.In Beed district also, long queues were witnessed in front of 'Parli-Vaijnath' Jyotirlinga (one of 12 Jyotirlingas in the country).
The similar scene was seen at 'Aundha Nagnath', in Aundha tehsil of Hingoli district in region, third Jyotirlinga in Marathwada, the sources further said.
All the three jyotilings temple authorities has organised numbers of programmes on this occassion.
'Shivalingas' were worshipped on the auspicious festival and special poojas and Abhisheks (prayers and offerings) were performed and given on this occasion across the region.
Meanwhile, Police have made special arrangements with deputing various terms of police to cope with the extra rush of devotees across the region, the sources added.
