Maoist sub-zonal commander arrested in Palamu

Daltonganj, Feb 4 (UNI) Police has arrested a zonal commander of the CPI (Maoists) from Taal village under Panki Police Station area of this district.
Addressing a press conference here today Palamu SP Inderjeet Mahtha said that the arrested commander has been identified as Mahesh Singh Kharwar alias Aditya Ji who was nabbed in a joint operation by the CRPF and the district police. Kharwar was returning from Patna following a health treatment and was going to his home located at Pundru when he was nabbed.
The SP said that acting on the inputs provided by him police conducted raids at the house of one Umesh Yadav in Andag village during which a desi katta, five live cartridges, a bundle of codex wire was recovered.

Police said the accident took place at about 3:30pm near Yaudoo Modh at Zojila when a Sumo vehicle bearing registration number JK04C 5801 on way from Kargil towards Srinagar skidded off the road and felt into a deep gorge along the Srinagar- Leh highway resulting in the death of four tourists and the driver.
