Manipur Industry minister urges centre to check production of Manipur’s traditional cloth in UP

Imphal, Jun 1 (UNI): Manipur Textiles, Commerce and Industry Minister Thongam Biswajit Singh today said Manipur government has received a report that there is large scale production of the traditional handloom stole of the State, the Leirum Phee at a manufacturing unit in UP.
He said addressing the media at his official residence that Manipur government has written an official letter to the Central Ministry on the issue.
He said he will personally apprise the Centre through an official letter to stop mass production of State’s traditional stole at manufacturing units by use of power-loom in the interest of the State’s traditional handloom weavers.
