Manipur Governor felicitates Gallantry Awardees, honours families of fallen soldiers

Imphal, Oct 10 (UNI) Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla today felicitated gallantry award winners and presented cash awards to them and to the next of kin of soldiers from the state who lost their lives in service, at a solemn ceremony held at Raj Bhavan, here.
The event, described as the first of its kind in the state, was organised under the guidance of the Governor to honour soldiers from Manipur who have demonstrated exceptional courage and selfless dedication in the line of duty. The ceremony served as a tribute to the state’s brave soldiers who have upheld the highest traditions of valour, discipline, and devotion to the nation.
A total of 18 personnel, including battle casualties, were honoured for their exemplary service. The Shaurya Chakra was awarded to Major Maneo Francis P.F. of PARA (SF) and Subedar P. Prabin Singha of the Artillery. The Vir Chakra was conferred upon Squadron Leader Rizwan Malik of the Indian Air Force and Constable (L) Deepak Chingakham of the Border Security Force. The Sena Medal was awarded to Lieutenant Colonel K. Bijayendra Sharma of the Army Aviation Squadron (UH), Lieutenant Colonel Mutum Ajoy Meitei of the Ladakh Scouts, Major S. Maningba Rangnamei of the Bihar Regiment, Major Sougrakpam Rishikesh Singh of the Engineers, Lieutenant Colonel Kh. Shem of the JAT Regiment, Major Lalngaisang Vaiphei of ECIB, Major Sushrujen Pangeijam of the Assam Rifles, Major Irengbam Vishal of the JAK Rifles, Havildar Prakash Chhetri of PARA (SF), and Naik L. Machinmi of PARA (SF). Battle casualties Major (Late) M. Pritam Singh of 5 Mahar (Borders) and Craftsman (Late) Wakambam Peter Singh of the EME were honoured posthumously. The Vishisht Seva Medal was presented to Lieutenant Colonel Lemjoy Chara of the Army Medical Corps, while Naik M. Rangayung of PARA (SF) was mentioned in despatches.

High turnout in Bihar a signal of vote for change: Prashant Kishor

Patna, Nov 9 (UNI) Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor on Sunday dubbed the high voter turnout in the first phase of the Bihar assembly elections as "a strong signal of change of regime" in Bihar.
Kishor told media persons that 65.08 percent polling in the first phase of Bihar assembly elections on November 6, was a historic event in the democratic history of the state. It was a strong indication of the fact that people of Bihar had voted for "change of regime" in the state, he noted.
