Bengaluru, Dec 14 (UNI) Karnataka BJP President Vijayendra on Saturday accused Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of using fabricated issues to deflect attention from his government's alleged corruption.
Vijayendra also clarified that the Anwar Manippady report on Wakf properties pertains to the Congress party, not the BJP.
Taking to X, Vijayendra said, "Your claims about the Anwar Manipady report are laughable as it exposes Congress leaders’ misuse of Waqf properties, not BJP members. Do you seriously believe a bribe of ₹150 crore would be offered to suppress a report which is against Congress leaders? Such statements only highlight your lack of common sense."
Vijayendra further questioned Siddaramaiah’s leadership and moral authority, saying, "Honourable Siddaramaiah, people are shocked by the ongoing CBI and ED investigations. You questioned the permission granted to the prosecution by the Governor and made vain attempts to seek legal protection by calling in a senior lawyer from Delhi. What morality do you have to order a CBI investigation into someone else when you yourself are humiliated by the High Court verdict?"
He accused Siddaramaiah's government of corruption, specifically highlighting the Maharishi Valmiki Development Corporation scam and a money laundering case. "You are abusing your power as Chief Minister to avoid scrutiny in the Lokayukta investigation," Vijayendra claimed.
Vijayendra also criticised Siddaramaiah’s attempts to block a CBI investigation, including seeking constitutional experts from Delhi, calling it a waste of taxpayers' money and a desperate attempt to cover up corruption. "You are not getting any chemical to remove the black ink that has settled on you," he remarked, referring to the ongoing investigations.
The BJP leader challenged Siddaramaiah to allow a CBI investigation into the MUDA (Mysore Urban Development Authority) scam without objections. "If you have the courage, let's see if you can allow the CBI investigation into the MUDA scam against you without raising any objections," he said.
Vijayendra also referred to several controversies surrounding the Siddaramaiah administration, including alleged attempts to seize land from farmers and religious properties under the Waqf, police brutality against Panchamasali reservation activists, and the unfolding MUDA scam revelations.
"Floating such trivial and fabricated issues to divert attention from these serious matters reflects the rusting of your political maturity," he concluded.
Earlier, Siddaramaiah, called for a CBI inquiry into allegations made by Manippady, who claims that Vijayendra offered him a ₹150 crore bribe to suppress investigations into Wakf property encroachments.
Manippady reportedly wrote a letter to PM Modi and the BJP President in this regard.
Siddaramaiah questioned PM Modi's silence on the matter, accusing the BJP of shielding Vijayendra and others involved in corruption. He also linked the allegations to other accusations of corruption within the BJP, urging Modi to break his silence and initiate a probe into the matter.
