Man sentenced to life imprisonment for raping stepdaughter

Agartala, Feb 14 (UNI) A 52-year-old man has been sentenced to life imprisonment by a special POCSO court in West Tripura for raping his 11-year-old stepdaughter in April 2024 in the Mandai area on the eastern outskirts of Agartala.
Special Public Prosecutor Jayanta Chowdhury said that the court ruled that the convict will remain behind bars for the remainder of his natural life. In addition to life imprisonment, the convict was fined Rs 5,000.
The incident occurred on the night of April 15, 2024, when the victim's mother briefly stepped out of the bedroom. Upon her return, she found the child bleeding on the floor. Neighbours responded to the mother's alarm and helped transport the girl to the hospital for treatment.
