Man held for taking bribe promising to withdraw complainant's kin's names in criminal case

Phagwara, Sep 15 (UNI) Police have arrested a person under Prevention of Corruption Act, 2018 for taking bribe of Rs two lakhs from a complainant to let go a 2018 case involving latter's son and daughter-in-law.
The police party headed by Investigation officer Manpreet Dhillon held a man identified as Sulkhan Singh, resident of village Dhariwal in district Kapurthala for accepting bribe of Rs two lakhs from Kapurthala resident Baldev Singh in lieu of withdrawal of a criminal case registered against his son Kuldip Singh and his wife Manjit Kaur who were booked under NDPS Act on July 22 in the year 2018.
SSP Kapurthala Satinder Singh while confirming it told UNI here on Sunday that the complainant told the police that neither the accused could withdraw the case registered against his son and daughter-in-law nor could return the bribe amount.
