Man gets capital punishment for double murder

Nanded, Jul 18 (UNI) A local court on Thursday awarded capital punishment to an offender and life imprisonment to the other, in a double murder case of honour killing.
As per details, Pooja Bapurao Dasre (22), resident of Therban in Bhokar tehsil, was married to Jethiba Varshekar on June 10, 2017, but she had an affair with Govind Vithal Karhale (25). Few days after marriage, she eloped with Govind.
On getting information that she was at Kharbala in Mudhol tehsil in Telangana, her brother Sunil Digambar Dasre and cousin Mohan Dasre went to Mudhol. Taking them into confidence, he asked them to marry at Basar Sarsavati temple in Telangana.
On agreeing so they started on motorcycle but instead of going to Basar he took them towards Bhokar. On the Telangana-Maharashtra border near Diwasi village Digambar using a sharp weapon killed his sister of Pooja and her lover Govind by slitting their throats on July 23, 2017.
Police Sub-Inspector Sushil Chauhan filed a case against the duo and submitted a charge sheet before the Bhokar Additional Session court.
On cross examination of eight witnesses and on the basis of circumstantial evidences, Bhokar Additional Sessions Judge MS Shiekh awarded capital punishment to Digambar Dasre and life imprisonment to cousin Mohan Dasre, for assisting in committing the crime.
This is the first time in the history of the Bhokar Additional Session Court that capital punishment was awarded.
