Man dies after being thrashed for killing a prohibited animal

Khunti, Sep 22 (UNI) A group of people beat three men, one of whom died later, in Jaltanda Suari village under Karra police station area of this district for killing an prohibited animal.
The deceased has been identified as Kalantus Barla of Gopalpur village of Lapung police station area.
Two others-- Philip Horro and Phagu Kachap-- who sustained critical injuries are being treated at RIMS Ranchi.
Post the incident, senior police officials reached the village and are camping in the area.
Police said that villagers had received information that three men were killing a prohibited animal on the bank of the local river, after which a large number of the villagers gathered and reached the spot and caught the trio red-handed.
The villagers thrashed the three men black and blue.
Soon after, a police team reached the spot and rescued the three men from the irate villagers.
The injured were rushed to RIMS Ranchi for treatment, but one of them succumbed to injuries during the treatment.
Police has taken many suspects in custody in connection with this case and raids are on to nab the other accused.
