Mamta morphed snap: Apex court grants bail to detenue, says ruling not a precedent

New Delhi, May 14 (UNI) A vacation bench of the Supreme Court on Wednesday, in its interim direction, ruled that detenue, Priyanka Sharma, be immediately released on bail.
The Bharatiya Janata Party leader was arrested in Howrah district of Bengal for sharing on her Facebook account a morphed photo of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee
Headed by Justice Indira Banerjee and also comprising Justice Sanjiv Khanna, the bench ruled that Ms Sharma shall, however, at the time of release, tender an apology in writing for sharing the pictures in question, on her Facebook account.
The apex court also made it clear that this order was being made in the special facts and certain circumstances of this case and shall not operate as a precedent.
Questions raised are kept open, the bench ruled,
It added that Astha Sharma, counsel appearing for the State of Bengal, will accept the notice.
The bench listed the writ petition for further hearing after the summer break of the Supreme Court.
