Mamata tears into Modi over demonetisation, stages protest at Jantar Mantar

New Delhi, Nov 23 (UNI) Staging a protest here at Jantar Mantar over demonetisation, West Bengal Chief Minister and All India Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee today tore into Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his decision to scrap old notes of Rs 500/1000 denomination saying that the Government has lost its credibility and in the upcomping Assembly polls in different States BJP will get a befitting reply from the common people. While leaders of Opposition parties -- Janta Dal United, Samajwadi Party, Nationalist Congress Party and Aam Aadmi Party landed their support to Ms Banerjee's protest on the issue. Addressing the agitating workers of her party, the Chief Minister said, "The Modi Government has lost all its credibility. If credibility is lost, then everything is lost. It's time, this Government must go. BJP will get a befitting reply in the upcoming elections due to demonetisation." Attacking the Prime Minister, Ms Banerjee said, "Why are you so egoist ? Can't you see the problems of the common man. You have snatched everything from them. Do yo think that they will forgive you?" "Have you brought any black money from Swiss bank ? No, you have only looted people of the country," the Chief Minister said, adding, that the country was not safe under the leadership of Mr Modi. The AITC supremo said that she will continue her fight over demonetisation until the problem is resolved and whosoever calls her, she will go. "Even, the bullets of Modi Government can't stop me in fighting for the rights of the poor," Ms Banerjee asserted. Attacking the Centre, senior AITC leader Dinesh Trivedi said, "Modi Government claims that they are pro-poor but today you can see where the common man are standing. They have kicked on stomach of the people by their demonetisation policy". He also alleged that the Centre did not ask anyone on the demonetisation issue before implementing it.
