Mamata says rescue operation is over, restoration of damaged infrastructure has started

Siliguri, Oct 7 (UNI) West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today said the rescue operation in North Bengal, battered by rains and landslides, was over and the restoration works for the damaged infrastructure has been started on a war footing.
Before leaving for Kolkata after spending three days in the calamity-devastated region, Banerjee said she met 21 families, whose relatives were killed in the Sunday disaster, and paid compensation of Rs 5 lakh each.
The state government also dispatched 400 kits, containing essential foods and other logistics.
