Mamata pays homage to Vivekananda to mark Sanyasi’s 125th anniversary of epochal speech at Chicago

Kolkata, Sep 11 (UNI) West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday paid
homage to Swami Vivekananda to mark the Sanyasi's 125th anniversary of epochal
speech at the Parliament of Religions in Chicago, USA
“Today is the 125th anniversary ofSwami Vivekananda‘s epochal speech at the
Parliament of Religions in Chicago. His message of universal brotherhood is relevant
even today. My respectful homage to the great saint,” Ms Banerjee posted on her
social networking page.
To mark this historic occasion, the West Bengal government is organising a week-long
programme in association with the Ramakrishna Mission.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee would be present at the inaugural function today at
Belur Math.
The government is preparing for large-scale preparations of the occasion across the
state. Various programmes including seminars in public halls and in schools and seminars
explaining the still-relevant ideals of Swami Vivekananda would be held.
The great follower of the philosophy of Swami Vivekananda, Chief Minister Mamata
Banerjee has named schemes and places after the great son of Bengal.
The state government gave autonomy and special status to Ramakrishna and Sarada
Mission educational institutions, which are associated with Swami Vivekananda’s ideology
to impart education and foster character-building.
