Kolkata, Aug 16 (UNI) West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee todaymourned the death of former cricketer Ajit Wadekar, who led India tofirst Test cricket win in England and the West Indies.
Ajit Wadekar was 77 and is survived by his wife Rekha, two sons and adaughter. Wadekar, who was ailing for long, was taken to a hospital insouth Mumbai today where he was declared dead on arrival.
" Saddened at the passing away of former Indian Test captain andcricketer Ajit Wadekar. He will be remembered for his fine leadershipon overseas tours. We have lost one of the all-time champions of sportin India. My condolences to his family and his admirers," Ms Banerjeesaid.
