Mamata Banerjee announces pay hike for Civic Volunteers to Rs 8000 from October 1, 18

Kolkata, May 21 (UNI) West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee todayannounced a pay hike to Rs 8000 from Rs 5500 per month, assistance orallowance Rs 3000 to anganwadi workers and Rs 1000 to ICDS workerswith effect from October 1,2018.She said after consultation with the finance minister, chief secretaryand DGP the salary hike for the Civic Volunteers has been decided fortheir hard work.She said the government has decided to accord the Civic Volunteers asHome Guard status and they would be given training such as policeforce.Ms Banerjee said the Angangawadi workers, who get the governmentassistance Rs 1500 per month would be given Rs 3000 effecting fromOctober 1,2018 and hike of Rs 1000 for ICDS workers.She said the hike would help over 4 lakh families.
