Kuala Lumpur, Sep 23 (UNI) Malaysia’s opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim on Wednesday claimed that he had secured a majority from lawmakers to stake a claim to form a new government, seven months after a power grab within the ruling coalition brought down the previous administration.
Anwar claimed that he had been “approached by a number of MPs from various parties” who were unhappy with the existing leadership of Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin, Al Jazeera reported.
He however refused to disclose the number of lawmakers who were backing him, and said he would do so after seeking an audience with the king, who is currently receiving treatment at the national heart hospital in Kuala Lumpur.
