Majuli to be connected with Jorhat bridge in 2026: Assam CM

Guwahati, Nov 28 (UNI) The construction of a bridge over the Brahmaputra river, connecting the world's largest river island Majuli with Jorhat district, will be completed in 2026, said Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday.
Construction activities for the bridge that is being built at an estimated project cost of around Rs 650 crore began on November 29, 2021.
Speaking to media persons, while visiting the construction site in Majuli, Sarma exuded confidence the bridge, once operational, would fulfil a very longstanding demand of the residents of the district.
