Major crackdown on separatists to foil one-hour protest at Lal Chowk

Srinagar, Jun 15 (UNI) Majority separatist leaders, including chairmen of both the factions of the Hurriyat Conference (HC), have been put under house arrest or taken into preventive custody in the Kashmir valley to foil one-hour peaceful protest at Lal Chowk, the nerve centre of the summer capital this afternoon.
The separatist organisations have jointly called for peaceful protests against the alleged conspiracy to change the demography of the state by constructing separate sainik and pandit colonies and allotting land to non state subjects under new industrial policy.
However, the government, including Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, have time and again made it clear that there is no proposal to construct colonies for sainiks or exclusively for migrant pundits in the valley.
