Major crackdown against Sand mafia, 41 Hyvas seized, 4 arrested

Saraikela-Kharsawan, May 23 (UNI) In a major offensive against illegal sand trade
in the district 41 Hyvas laden with sand was seized and four men were arrested in
this connection.
Police today said a tip off had been received regarding the illegal sand trade under
Ichagarh and Tiruldih Police Station area.
Police was informed that the sand was being illegally mined from the river and was
stored in the forest after which in the night they were being illegally transported.
Following the input a team led by Saraikela SP comprising the district mining officer
and SDPOs of Saraikela and Chandil launched a vehicle checking drive during which
41 Hyvas was seized.
An FIR in the case was also registered at the Saraikela police station. Four men were
also arrested in this connection who were identified as Sanjay Mahto, Gurupado Mahto,
Lalto Mahto and Sahdeo Mahto.
