Major brands to start retail operation at Chandigarh International Airport

Chandigarh, Nov 15 (UNI) Chandigarh International Airport Limited (CHIAL), a joint venture of Airport Authority of India (AAI) and governments of Punjab and Haryana, will now see the major global and domestic brands in various segments starting their retail operations.
Making the announcement while speaking to media here on Thursday, CHIAL spokesperson Deepak K. Joshi said that tenders were invited from the eligible companies for 14000 sq. ft. area within the airport complex to be allotted to major retail chains and brands in eateries, fashion, lifestyle & accessories etc. for the convenience of travelers. Three companies participated in the tenders and out of these the Three Vee Marketing Pvt Ltd was selected on the basis of competitive bids, he added.
He said the Three Vee Marketing has further appointed country’s leading real estate professional services firm Jones Lang LaSalle Property Consultants (I) Pvt Ltd. (JLL) for renting out the space to major retail chains/brands and pleased to announce that out of total 36 outlets 15 have been rented out to the major brands and they have commenced their operation at the airport. The rest of the spaces would be rent out by the year end, he claimed.
Sharing about the other developments, Mr Joshi said that the airport will be operational 24x7 by March 31, 2019 as expansion of its runway would be completed by then. With the completion of expansion the length of runway would reach 10400 feet therefore, sufficient for landing wider wings or bigger aircrafts and prompt the aviation companies to start domestic and international flights to new destinations from here, he asserted.
He said three more aerobridges, one conveyer belt and one escalator are being added at the airport for the convenience of travelers and speedier functioning.
Mr Vivek Nijhawan, Director of Three Vee Marketing and Mr Diwanshu Mittal, Director & Head North of JLL were also present on the occasion.
