New Delhi, Nov 25 (UNI) Indian National Congress MPs on Monday morning staged a protest in Parliament premises over the political crisis in Maharashtra.
Protesting in front of Mahatma Gandhi s statue, they raised slogans such as "stop murdering democracy", "government wake up".
Congress MP Rahul Gandhi said that what was happening in Maharashtra was against the democracy.
The parliamentarians of the grand-old party alleged that they were manhandled by the marshals when they went to the well over Maharashtra situation.
Such behaviour with MPs has never happened in the house before, a Congress MP reportedly said.
The political turmoil occurred after Bharatiya Janata Party's Devendra Fadnavis took oath as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra in the pre-dawn hours of Saturday morning and Nationalist Congress Party's Ajit Pawar as his Deputy, hours after NCP chief Sharad Pawar indicated that a consensus has been evolved on Shiv Sena President Uddhav Thackeray for the top post.
