Maharashtra Farm Loan Waiver delayed; implementation hinges on income tax data

Mumbai, July 10 ( UNI) The Maharashtra government has acknowledged that implementation of its recently announced farm loan waiver scheme has been delayed, stating that it is awaiting income tax details of beneficiaries from the Central government before rolling out the programme.
Under the Punyashlok Ahilyabai Holkar Shetkari Karjamafi Yojana, the state had announced a loan waiver of up to rupees 2 lakh for eligible farmers, along with an incentive of rupees 50,000 for those who have regularly repaid their crop loans.
However, the government is yet to decide whether income tax-paying farmers will be eligible for the scheme. Officials said beneficiary income tax data has been sought from the Centre, and implementation will begin only after the information is received.
