Maharashtra Bandh evokes lukewarm response in Mumbai

Mumbai, Jan 24 (UNI) Barring stray incidents of stone pelting and attempts to disrupt road traffic in Mumbai, Maharashtra Bandh' called by Prakash Ambedkar's Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi against the new citizenship law on Friday evoked a lukewarm response.

The BEST bus no 362 was stoned by unidentified persons near Swastik Park at Chember in Mumbai suburb here. The driver, Vilas Dabhade (53) was injured who is being treated at Govandi's Shatabdi hospital, an official said.

Partial impact of the bandh was seen in pockets like Kurla, Sion-Trombay Road, Byculla, Dadar, Wadala and Andheri, a report said.

The party workers were detained from the Ghatkopar area in Mumbai while they were stopping traffic on the highway.

Mumbai's lifeline, suburban trains, remained unaffected.

Even, outstation trains on both the Central and Western Railways, auto-rickshawas, taxis, metro, monorail were also running smoothly, the report added.
