Maharashtra among poorest performers in sex ratio at birth despite economic progress: SRS

Nagpur, Jun 5 (UNI) Maharashtra, despite being one of the country’s leading economic hubs, remains among the worst-performing states in terms of sex ratio at birth, according to the latest Sample Registration System (SRS) Statistical Report.
The report showed that the state registered 899 girls for every 1,000 boys during the 2022–24 period, placing Maharashtra among the five lowest-ranked states nationwide.
The figure also remains below the national average of 918 girls per 1,000 boys.
