Maha to introduce ‘single parent child’ category in college admissions; high-level panel to frame roadmap

Mumbai, June 13 (UNI) In a major step towards making higher education more inclusive, Maharashtra Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Dada Patil has directed the formation of a high-level committee to implement a special framework for children of single mothers, including the introduction of a "Single Parent Child" category in college admission forms across the state.
A key component of the proposed framework includes the introduction of a dedicated "Single Parent Child" column in college admission forms across the state to facilitate the accurate identification and registration of these students.
The proposed initiative aims to ensure that children raised by single mothers receive easier access to educational opportunities, government welfare schemes, and institutional support. The move is part of the state government's broader effort to bring such students into the mainstream of higher education.
