Maha: Snail crisis under control due to micro planning

Mumbai, Aug 14 (UNI) In the wake of damage caused by snails to crops in kharif season of 2022-23, the Agriculture Department, under the leadership of Maharashtra Agriculture Minister Dhananjay Munde, instructed officials to take effective measures in this regard from the beginning of this year and brought the snail infestation under complete control this year.
In the year 2022-23, many agricultural crops and fruit crops were extensively damaged due to snail infestation in the state mostly in Vidarbha and Marathwada regions.
In three districts of Latur, Beed and Dharashiv, more than 33 per cent of crop and fruit crops were lost, affecting 1,29,596 farmers.
