Aurangabad/ Mumbai, May 30 (UNI) The Maharashtra government will provide insurance cover of Rs.50 lakh to all kinds of employees who are working to tackle the corona crisis in the state, announced Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Ajit Pawar.
In case of untimely death of a concerned employee while on duty, his family would be given compensation of Rs 50 lakh by the state government.
The ruling was issued by the Finance department in this regard, Mr Pawar stated in an official press release here on Friday.
He further said that to tackle the corona crisis, a large number of manpower has been performing their duty at the risk of carrying out many responsibilities such as survey, search, tracking, preventive measures, testing, treatment, relief work, etc.
Mr Pawar averred that the state government was serious about the safety of these employees as well as the future of their families and hence this important decision was taken today.
He further said that healthcare workers were already benefiting from such a central scheme.
As per today's ruling, the staff of district administration, police, Home Guard, anganwadi ,Accounts and Treasury, Food and Civil Supplies, Water Supply and Sanitation, as well employees of other departments appointed for house-to-house survey (hired, contract, externally employed), who are involved in the fight against Covid-19, will get an insurance cover of Rs 50 lakhs,
The scheme will be in force till September 30, 2020, he added.
