Mumbai, Jan 23 (UNI) Gangster Ravi Mallesh Borra alias D K Rao and his six aides were on Thursday arrested for allegedly giving death threats to the owner of an Andheri-based hotel to sell the property to him, police said.
The Anti-Extortion Cell, Crime Branch, Mumbai, received a complaint from a hotelier alleging that gangster D K Rao, along with six others, conspired to take over his hotel, demanded Rs 2.5 crore as extortion money, and issued death threats.
An FIR (first information report) was registered under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
All seven accused, including Rao, have been arrested, and further investigation is underway.
According to reports, Rao, who was a member of infamous Chhota Rajan gang, had 41 cases registered against him and has carried out extortion in the maximum city. He is a resident of Mumbai's Dharavi.
Out of the total cases registered against Rao, six are of murder while five are related to dacoity.
In October 2022, he was granted bail by the Bombay High Court in a case related to extortion call which he allegedly made from behind bars.
