Mumbai, Jun 15 (UNI) Following the meeting of Maharashtra Chief
Minister Devendra Fadnavis with Governor C Vidyasagar Rao here ahead
of the start of the Monsoon session of the state Legislature, the
expansion of the cabinet may take place on Sunday, sources in the
government confirmed on Saturday.
The Monsoon session of the state Legislature is set to commence on
June 17.
Both Mr Fadnavis and Finance minister Sudhir Mungantiwar had given
indications about possible expansion of the cabinet ahead of the
Monsoon session of the state Legislature since last few days.
The expansion of the cabinet is necessary in view of vacancies
created following the death of Agriculture minister and BJP leader
Pandurang Fundkar, in 2018. The portfolio is now being handled by
Revenue minister Chandrakant Patil.
Also, Deepak Sawant, then Health minister, resigned earlier this
year and the portfolio is being looked after by Eknath Shinde, also
PWD minister.
