Mah Polls: Shiv Sena, BJP finalise seat sharing, to contest 135 seats each

Mumbai, Sep 20 (UNI) Shiv Sena President Uddhav Thackeray on Friday stated that his party will continue the alliance with the BJP for the upcoming assembly polls.

Elaborating further, he informed,"Both parties would contest 135 seats each in the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections."

"This formula was decided earlier by the BJP President Amit Shah and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. We are firm on that formula. The announcement of the alliance shall be made soon," he said.

If the two main alliance partners finalise on the formula, it will leave the remaining 18 seats for the other smaller allies in the 288-member assembly.

In a related development, farmer leader Kishore Tiwari joined the Shiv Sena on Friday.

Around 5 days ago, Mr Tiwari snapped ties with the BJP following differences over the revised penalties under the amended Motor Vehicles Act, among other issues.
